Manifest Your Life Dream # 3 – Setting Your Intentions

To manifest your life dream successfully, you must use your manifesting skills regularly, because the more you manifest, the more powerful you become and the greater response you get to your requests. It’s an absolutely amazing and exciting road to be on.

I want you to know that this isn’t a  maybe thing. Manifesting your life dream isn’t something that might or might not happen. Manifesting is Real. It may have a different name in the future; it may have had a different name in the past; maybe there are other, better ways to describe it today . . . but no matter what you call it, it works.

The foundation of manifesting your life dream starts with understanding what it means to manifest, which you can read about in the first post of this series, Introduction to manifesting your dreams . Next, you get to grips with the foundation with appreciation in The first magical step to manifesting and after that, to give your voice more power,  learn about The power of forgiveness.

When you’ve read the introduction and practised the first two steps, you have your foundation in place and you’re ready to set your intentions.

From here on in, the single most important point is that whatever you choose, it must resonate within you. You must be able to feel it deep in your belly and in your heart, under your ribs as well as in your mind. You must feel it in your whole being.

In this post we’re going to look at:

Setting Your Intentions – Global Intentions

Sit down somewhere where you can be at peace and think about what it is that you’d like to manifest into your life. Is it your whole lifestyle that needs upgrading or is there just one thing you’re longing to change?

If you like to doodle or draw, take out a large piece of paper or a sketch book and sketch a representation of everything you’d like to see flowing into your life. You can read more about the power of doing this in the post Magic drawings for manifesting.

Is there anything in your life which you aren’t happy with right now? Picture the solution and put it in your drawing.

Think about each and every little thing in that drawing – oh and by the way, if you prefer to write a list that’s fine too, whatever works for you. For me, the drawing has an absolute effect, way more than a list.

So, you’re looking at your list or at your drawing, now the next thing to do is to brainstorm anything that you may have forgotten to include that you really want to change and put it all down there.

I’m not suggesting you try to manifest everything at once but it’s a great way to start and to really get to know what you want. Don’t leave anything out, even little things like a fixed fence for example.

How to Start to Manifest

There are so many variables, so many different situations which you could be in that affect how you should proceed with manifesting.

Some of the things to think about.

  • How experienced are you at manifesting?
  • How happy are you with your life right now?
  • Have you got any doubts or disbelief about manifesting?

These questions and more will affect how you should go forward from here.

If you have no, or little experience

It’s important to aim your reach at something which is a baby step away from where you are. The reason for this is that you have to believe beyond belief.

”You have to move out of the belief-territory and into the knowing-territory.”

If you pick something which is a giant step from where you are now, your logical mind may interfere and tell you it’s not realistic. And that will jeopardise your power and your success.

”If you don’t feel it, you won’t see it.

So, for example, you’re living in an apartment and you can’t afford new furniture. Actually you’d like to move into a bigger place, a house with a garden maybe. Instead of manifesting the house, manifest the new furniture.

When you’ve got more experience manifesting, and when you KNOW that it’s for real, you’ll be able to skip these middle steps and go straight for what your intention is.

The same is true with the question about how happy you are with your life. If you’re totally unhappy, after drawing all your wildest dreams in your sketch book or notepad, choose one thing, just one thing that’s relatively easy to imagine as being a part of your reality.

If you have any doubts about manifesting, those doubts could hinder your progress. Instead of thinking it doesn’t work, try adopting a suspended disbelief attitude where you just say to yourself, oh well, we’ll see and then proceed with a positive, open mind.

Focus on What to Manifest – How to Choose

If you’ve only got one thing you desire, and it’s reasonably close to your reality, that will be the object of your manifesting, but if you have loads of things/changes in your global intentions, it’s best to test them out to find one that resonates with you as being achievable.

Sit down and close your eyes. Get into a highly relaxed or mediative state and imagine the object/change being real in your life right now. Picture it in every detail.

When you do this, some things will feel fake and far removed from your present state. Move on to another, closer goal until you find one that feels ‘true’ to you.

You should be able to imagine it in all its colours, details & qualities. You should be able to feel it as though you’re already in possession of it. When you find this item/change, this is the thing you should start with.

Detail is important. For example, if you’re manifesting a soul mate, you don’t have to specifically imagine his or her face, but imagine all the things about the person. What they like doing, how much they smile or laugh, what kind of a person they are.

Make a list of various attributes until you’ve built up an image of the kind of person you’d like to meet. (Later on, you must remember to open your mind and not be restricted by the attributes you’ve listed.)

If it’s an object you want to manifest, picture every single detail of it in all its glory. Abstract things are harder to manifest, especially if you haven’t had much practice doing this. So, when you start, don’t go for vague concepts like ‘happiness’ or ‘wealth’ or ‘health’.

Even so, when you’re more experienced, you can use manifesting to achieve all of these attributes, but not by focussing on those words and probably not when you first start out. You’ll be able to read all about manifesting these qualities in the future post, Manifesting wealth and abundance.

Imagine your desired result as already existing and smile as you feel what it’s like to be in the situation of having already achieved the situation or become the owner of the desired object or whatever it is.

Now here’s the important thing:

”Can you feel it in your belly?”

As you imagine the change, can you literally feel it inside of you? Not in you head but within your solar plexus? Until you can feel that, your thoughts are just thoughts, your imagination just your imagination.

”When you start to feel the imagined picture resonating throughout your body, that’s when you know it’s on its way to you.”

What Does it Take to Manifest Your Dream?

Manifesting for me involves setting my intentions, feeling the response throughout my whole body, giving gratitude and feeling joy within my heart. Sometimes, maybe I’m feeling low or sad but I can still feel the connection within as I think of whatever I’m attracting.

Once I’ve had this first connection, I realise often how lucky I am that it’s in my life. (In the beginning I used to think how lucky I am that it is on its way, but now that I know this as fact, I know that it is already in my reality even though I can’t see it and I give appreciation of its existence in my life.)

How long the process takes will depend, among other things, on what’s being manifested. With physical things there are often logistical factors to take into account, like when I manifested my house in the town.

The whole process took 8 months from first specifying what my future house had to have, to the house appearing on the market, to my offer being accepted and finally to the bank granting me a mortgage and the contracts being exchanged.

Yet maybe one night I close my eyes and imagine a solution to a minor situation. In that case I won’t know actually WHAT the solution is, I’ll just manifest that feeling of happiness that the situation’s resolved. This type of manifesting can appear in my life the very next morning or afternoon.

We talk more about timing of manifesting in the next post. Just remember that it isn’t something you should link to your desires because how long it takes to come into your reality is not under your control and the more you try, the further away you will push it.

What I Want Is Far Away From My Reality – Can I Still Manifest it?

In a word, yes. You can manifest anything as long as it isn’t harmful to others or manipulative or trying to change another person’s behaviour.

The real question is, are you able to manifest it if you have no skills in manifesting? And then the answer is, get practising, build up your strength, get straight to work and know where you’re heading!

So let’s say you live in a normal house with a normal job and you’re fine with your family. You’ve got your basics covered but you want to dream big. You want to be a superstar but you have no experience in manifesting.

Then the best thing to do is to aim for something closer to your reality. So if your dream is of making it big as an actor for example, instead of trying to manifest super-stardom, set your intentions on finding a local theatre production you can act in.

Your intentions should always be accompanied by knowledge. Knowledge that this is right for you and it’s already yours. It’s that secret message that gets through to you and whispers in your gut. I’m here!

Conclusion and Next Step

Manifesting is an undeniably incredible process which you can learn in order to attract the things you want into your life. When you get the hang of it and start becoming more adept, you’ll find so many synchronicities in your life it becomes exciting just to wake up in the morning!

After you’ve set your intentions and focussed on manifesting your desired result, there are still a few things you need to do in order for it to appear in your reality. Click to read the next post of this series: Manifest your own destiny – step 4.

  1. Hi,
I love your website. I’m working on a new theory of manifesting and am in the early days of substantiating my theory about why some people seem to stumble on this so easily. You seem to be one of those? The theory is based around the work on the Gene Keys. Essentially is a combo of astrology and a date 88 days before birth that provides you with a list of which (of the 64 gene keys) are particularly important to you in this lifetime. Interestingly one of the gene keys contains the start codon (protein). This is at the start of the DNA sequence for every new cell or process. My theory is that people who have this gene key seem to manifest more easily, without needing to learn. If you’d like to know your gene keys you can google gene keys free profile, or send me via email your birth date, time and place and I can download for you and send back.
Just a thought in case you are interested. 🙂

    1. Hi Cath,
Thank you for your comment and I’m sorry for the delay in answering! Your message is interesting as I haven’t delved into the Gene Keys before – but now I’m going to look into it immediately! Manifesting’s such a wonderful part of our lives and so intriguing – it seems so definable yet undefinable, both spontaneous and structured, inspirational yet factual and the list goes on. Maybe we will discover that manifesting is in fact everything we see around us. I feel as though we’re standing at the early stage of an exciting path which will unfold more and more rapidly as we tread along it and embrace our own inner growth. 🙂
