Gluten free crackers are a life saviour! There are some really horrible ones out there – which could put you off the whole idea unless you know delicious ones also exist.
These gluten free crackers aren’t sold in my local supermarket and it was a whole year before I found some tasty ones that I actually wanted to eat.
First I came across the Schar Crispbreads which were given to me by a friend who was visiting and I never looked back – always have to have them in my drawer! Then I discovered the Mrs Crimble’s and they have taken residence as the second essential gluten free cracker in my house (normally the rosemary & onion flavour). There are plenty of other brands that I’ve tried, but so far, these are the best for me.
Schar Crispbread – Gluten Free Crackers
Schar Gluten Free crispbreads are light and crunchy, and slightly sweet and I love them with brie or another soft cheese on top. They’re also tasty with a stronger cheese though so they’re pretty adaptable. They come in one pack – so seal them carefully somehow after opening or they’ll go soft.
Mrs Crimble’s Gluten Free Crackers
Mrs Crimble’s Cheese Crackers are small hexagonal, crunchy crackers that go perfectly with any cheese and are pretty moorish. I like to have the variation, the soft digestive texture of the Nairn’s, the airy-fairy texture of the Schar’s and the solid, harder bite of Mrs Crimble’s.
They come in one large packet so you have to make sure to seal them up after eating a few, or they’ll all go soft.
